Thank You Tony!

You may have heard whispers and now it’s official! Anthony Saporito is retiring from his position as MCA/MSCA NY’s Executive Vice President. Tony has attributed his reluctance in making the news public to not wanting to leave what he would describe as the best staff ever, but we promised to help with the transition.

Tony first started with MCANY in 1986 before a brief stint at the Steamfitting Industry Fund Office. He saw a return to the MCA, but this time in New Jersey under the leadership of Alan O’Shea for seven years before moving on to the General Contractors Association in 1999. In the end, MCANY was his true home, and he returned in 2003 where he was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2010.

In Tony’s collective 38 years in the industry, he has led MCA and MSCA through multiple negotiations, served as a chair and trustee on Local 638’s pension, welfare, and education funds, and most recently, guided the MCA through a nationwide pandemic. Additionally, Tony has served as a longtime board member for NY Helmets to Hardhats, an organization dedicated to helping Veterans transition to careers in the trades.

He has fostered a truly positive work environment for his staff and has navigated the ups and downs in the industry with finesse. It has been an honor to see him work always with a good attitude and an even better sense of humor. We at the MCA would like to thank Tony for his dedication, wisdom, and guidance over the years. His mentorship and kindness have made a lasting impact on all of us. We are also so very thankful for Tony’s wife, Jeanne Saporito, and all she did to support Tony and MCA over the years.

Tony’s last day will officially be June 30th, when he will hand the reigns over to Shane McMorrow, MCA’s assistant Vice President for the last 12 years. 

We wish Tony and Jeanne all the health and happiness they deserve as they begin their next chapter after nearly forty years of hard work and dedication to the industry! Congratulations!
