Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Competition

We have two annual scholarship programs and they’re both very different and completely seperate. You cannot apply to both. Please carefully read each description to decide which scholarship you are eligible for. Incorrect submissions will not be considered.

The Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Steamfitting Industry Promotion Fund of New York and Long Island. This scholarship program recognizes the academic and extracurricular achievements of the children within our industry and rewards these young men and women so that they may continue to excel.

Six merit-based scholarships are awarded annually and provide a stipend of $5,000 a year for a maximum of two years.

The Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Competition is open to High School Seniors ONLY. To qualify, the student must have a legal guardian who is a member of Enterprise Association Steamfitters’ Local Union No. 638 (Construction Branch). That legal guardian must be in good standing and have a minimum of 10 years of continuous employment in the Industry. **Please note: the applicant’s parent or legal guardian must meet the above criteria; a grandparent is not eligible unless they are a legal guardian.

DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 17, 2023

  • In the event a student elects to attend a tuition-free college or is a recipient of another scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to change its award and select an alternate winner. Excelsior Scholarship applicat applicable.
  • In the event a student elects to attend a tuition-free college or is a recipient of another scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to change its award and select an alternate winner. Excelsior Scholarship applicants are not applicable.
  • Scholarship Winners must be present at the Awards Reception in May (date to be announced). If a winner is unable to attend the scholarship reception, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to select an alternate winner.
  • The scholarship winner must maintain satisfactory progress towards his or her degree. In the second year of education, he or she must return the Scholarship Renewal form with a current transcript as evidence of said satisfactory academic progress.

Management Scholarship

Two scholarships of $2,500 each are awarded annually on the basis of academic achievement.

The Steamfitting Industry MANAGEMENT Scholarship Competition is open to both high school Seniors AND current college students. To qualify, the student must have a legal guardian who is currently an office or managerial employee with at least five (5) years of continuous employment for a Steamfitting Promotion Fund contributing contractor.

In the event a student elects to attend a tuition-free college or is a recipient of another scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to change its award and select an alternate winner. Excelsior Scholarship applicants are not applicable.
