On Thursday,
September 10th, MCA New York was pleased to have MCAA President
Brian Helm join us for our membership meeting at the LaGuardia Marriott. Peter
Vrankovic, MCA New York President and President of KSW Mechanical LLC, began
the meeting by recognizing the unfortunate passing of two significant
individuals in our industry. William Bowe of ABCO Peerless Sprinkler and Reed

the members to offer a moment of silence recognizing the significant impact
these two individuals had on the association and industry.

Following the moment of silence, Mr. Vrankovic introduced Brian Helm, MCAA President and President of Illinois-based Mechanical, Inc. Mr. Helm updated members on the latest programs, initiatives, and resources being offered through the MCAA. The Field Leader’s Conference, Women in the Mechanical Industry (WIMI) Initiative, and UA/MCAA’s Joint Labor-Management Conference were just a few of the topics covered in the MCAA President’s report. Additionally, members got a glimpse of the exciting programming in place for the 2020 MCAA Convention in Maui!

Following
Mr. Helm’s remarks, Mr. Vrankovic asked Brian to help in picking this year’s
convention raffle winner. Charlie Hearl of Skanska was selected as the winner
of a five-night trip for two to the MCAA Convention to be held March 15-19, 2020
at Maui’s Grand Wailea!

Wrapping up
the meeting, members were provided some industry updates, including information
on DOB Requirements for Adhesive Anchors and Jobsite Shanties, MTA’s Debarment
Regulations, MCA’s Golf Outing, and the upcoming Annual Associate Member Trade
Show.
