
Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Competition
We offer two distinct annual scholarship programs, each with separate eligibility requirements and applications.
You may only apply to one, not both.
Please read each program description carefully to determine which scholarship you qualify for.
Incorrect or ineligible submissions will not be considered.
The Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Steamfitting Industry Promotion Fund of New York and Long Island, this scholarship program honors the academic excellence and extracurricular achievements of students whose families are part of our industry. It is designed to support and encourage these promising young individuals as they pursue higher education.

Award Details & Eligibility
Each year, six merit-based scholarships are awarded through the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program. Each scholarship provides a $5,000 annual stipend (for tuition only), renewable for up to two years.
Who is Eligible
This competition is open to High School Seniors only.
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
The student must have a legal parent or guardian who is a member of the Enterprise Association Steamfitters’ Local Union No. 638 – Construction Branch
The parent or guardian must:
Be a member in good standing
Have at least 10 years of continuous employment in the Steamfitting Industry
Important Notes:
A grandparent is not eligible unless they are the student’s legal guardian
Children of company officers or principals are not eligible for this scholarship

The Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Steamfitting Industry Promotion Fund of New York and Long Island. This scholarship program recognizes the academic and extracurricular achievements of the children within our industry and rewards these young men and women so that they may continue to excel.
We have two annual scholarship programs and they’re both very different and completely seperate. You cannot apply to both. Please carefully read each description to decide which scholarship you are eligible for. Incorrect submissions will not be considered.

Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Competition
Each year, six merit-based scholarships are awarded, each providing a $5,000 annual stipend for tuition costs only, renewable for up to two years.
This competition is open to graduating high school seniors only.
To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
Have a legal parent or guardian who is a member of the
Enterprise Association Steamfitters’ Local Union No. 638 – Construction BranchThat parent or guardian must be:
A member in good standing
Employed in the Industry for at least 10 consecutive years
Important Notes:
A grandparent is not eligible unless they are the student’s legal guardian
If a student attends a tuition-free institution or receives a full scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to adjust the award or select an alternate winner.
Excelsior Scholarship recipients are not eligible.
Children of company officers or principals are not eligible
Application Deadline: November 21, 2025 (Close of Business)
Be sure to review all requirements and submit your application and transcript on time. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
- In the event a student elects to attend a tuition-free college or is a recipient of another scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to change its award and select an alternate winner. Excelsior Scholarship applicat applicable.
- In the event a student elects to attend a tuition-free college or is a recipient of another scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to change its award and select an alternate winner. Excelsior Scholarship applicants are not applicable.
- Scholarship Winners must be present at the Awards Reception in May (date to be announced). If a winner is unable to attend the scholarship reception, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to select an alternate winner.
- The scholarship winner must maintain satisfactory progress towards his or her degree. In the second year of education, he or she must return the Scholarship Renewal form with a current transcript as evidence of said satisfactory academic progress.

Management Scholarship
Each year, two scholarships of $2,500 are awarded based on academic achievement.
This competition is open to both:
High school seniors, and
Current college students
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Have a legal parent or guardian who is currently an office or managerial employee of a
Steamfitting Promotion Fund-contributing contractorThat parent or guardian must have at least five (5) years of continuous employment in that role
Important Notes:
If a student attends a tuition-free institution or receives a full scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to adjust the award or select an alternate winner.

Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Competition
Six merit-based scholarships are awarded annually and provide a stipend of $5,000 a year for a maximum of two years.
The Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Competition is open to High School Seniors ONLY. To qualify, the student must have a legal guardian who is a member of Enterprise Association Steamfitters’ Local Union No. 638 (Construction Branch). That legal guardian must be in good standing and have a minimum of 10 years of continuous employment in the Industry. **Please note: the applicant’s parent or legal guardian must meet the above criteria; a grandparent is not eligible unless they are a legal guardian.
**Children of company officers or principals ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for this scholarship**
DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 18, 2022

The Steamfitting Industry MANAGEMENT Scholarship Competition is open to both high school Seniors AND current college students. To qualify, the student must have a legal guardian who is currently an office or managerial employee with at least five (5) years of continuous employment for a Steamfitting Promotion Fund contributing contractor.
In the event a student elects to attend a tuition-free college or is a recipient of another scholarship, the Steamfitting Industry Scholarship Program reserves the right to change its award and select an alternate winner. Excelsior Scholarship applicants are not applicable.
